My wellness coaching has evolved upon completion of my nutrition certification from Bauman College in 2005. Learning what clients want and need to help make healthier eating habits a reality and inspiring and motivating them in the process is what I have come to love the best about this work. Learning new and powerful emotional clearing techniques has helped my clients get there faster! I am inspired by working with clients to achieve freedom with food and a better body image. I love how this combined approach creates such a positive and fun experience for all.
It is my mission to support others in discovering what they need to feel optimally healthy in every way; emotionally, physically and spiritually and to stay committed to their own process.
Meet the woman who understands
I
think I have been interested in health and nutrition for as long as I
can remember. I was very physically active in sports from weight
lifting to working with horses and training, to doing modern dance as a
very young girl into my teenage years. I became very interested in
health early on partially from these experiences and also due to the
influence of a very health and environmentally conscious parent. I grew up with wheat bread and apple wedges with peanut butter way before anyone thought it was cool, trust me. (Thank you mom! I love you for it now!)
When
I went to college, I discovered late night studying at cafe's and
drinking coffee and eating bagels and cream cheese, pastries, and all
manner of sweet, starchy foods. I would skip meals and avoid food, then
over-eat out of starvation! I wanted to be lean and strong but I was
feeling fat, bloated and acne prone... I became terrified of fat and
animal foods at some point during this time as well and was vegetarian on and off. I never knew what
to eat and I had a constant obsession with food and eating.
I would avoid eating out of fear, and then end up starving and grab whatever
was around- which was usually junk. Some days the only real meal I ate would be dinner, if that.
At
that time I believed that the only way to eat healthfully and care for
the environment was through being vegan. I went back and forth
with being vegan/vegetarian/binging on some animal protein a few times
per week until my mid 30's. By the time I started nutrition studies I was
mostly vegan and not doing well at all. My acne and weight fluctuations
were out of control and I was ALWAYS hungry. I had frequent bouts of
insomnia and severe PMS that was ruining my life. I knew there had to
be another way.. I knew I could find peace from food if I could only
learn what to eat to feel better.
Ah, my oh so wise body. It was talking to me all along. I was just not listening... I'll give you a hint; your cravings are not there to torture you. Cravings are there to teach us something. (And I'm no longer vegan or vegetarian).
After I studied nutrition I really began to put all the "nuts and bolts" information together about what my body needed to feel it's best. Having
the nutritional information was a huge start, but I still had problems
with putting all of the info I knew into action...
Sound familiar?
I
would know what to do, but often, could not follow through! How
frustrating!
This is where EFT came in. What was happening under the surface was the next piece of the puzzle. I had read every book about psychological issues around eating and body image, self-love, childhood trauma, and explored many healing modalities for decades, but nothing had ever really allowed me to release what I knew to be going on like EFT.
All of it helped, and I recommend many different techniques for healing but EFT is so awesome, that it is the main emotional healing tool that I use now.
Credentials
I received my Bachelor of Art's degree in Anthropology from UC Berkeley, California in 1992. After I graduated I explored graduate school in Public Health Education but ended up with a full time successful catering business to celebrities in the process, Sandy's Gourmet Productions, for over 14 years and I still offer some cooking classes and catering to private clients today. As a chef, I have always supported local, organic and whole foods in my cooking. At the same time that I started nutrition studies in 2003, I began studying energy healing modalities such as Reiki and EFT- Emotional Healing Technique. I became a Reiki Master from Eric Rubin in San Francisco in 2006, and was one of the first practitioners to complete the certification course from Gary Craig in EFT, in 2008 when it was first released. My experience with EFT preceded this certification by several years however. I graduated from Bauman College as a Nutrition Consultant in 2005.
Interests
Besides having a strong interest in health and healing and all things related to it, I am a huge animal lover and work with animals too. I offer many of my services for our pet friends as well. I am a passionate environmentalist and have a strong interest in working towards creating a viable and greener future on this planet which includes permaculture and sustainable farming methods. I have been an active martial arts fan, having trained in Muy Thai kick boxing to compete, some Brazilian Jujitsu, and yoga. I especially love the pioneering work of Judith Lasiter and her Relax and Restore yoga, Hatha yoga and chanting! Another life long interest is song writing, playing guitar and singing...
